New Work in Just Intonation: Call For Proposals

Proposal for a new work in Just Intonation for String Quartet

The Del Sol String Quartet has worked extensively with composers whose works explore tuning outside of equal temperament. We believe there is an under-explored world of tonality and expression outside the world of 12 tones within an octave. Composers like Ben Johnston, Terry Riley, Michael Harrison, Lou Harrison, Harry Partch, and Theresa Wong have inspired us - we strongly believe we need more music that taps into this world.

Please see guidelines below. Open to composers of all ages!

Early Submission: July 1, 2021, 11:59PM PST ($10 Submission Fee*)

Deadline for Submission: August 1, 2021, 11:59PM PST ($20 Submission Fee*)
